The International Women's Association Kuala Lumpur (IWAKL) was established in 1989 to further opportunities for the sharing of social, cultural, and community interests among women of different nationalities and to strengthen ties of friendship, mutual understanding and respect. IWAKL is non-political and non-denominational.

IWAKL organizes a variety of monthly activities, such as coffee mornings, talks, and cultural presentations. IWAKL conducts major events, such as Gala Nights and Food Fairs to benefit selected Malaysian charities.

The motto for IWAKL is Sharing-Understanding-Cooperation-Peace-Friendship-Respect-Unity.
